Ever since SILLY THING launched the COMME des GARCONS ‘GUERRILLA STORE +852′ in Hong Kong, CdG had identified Hong Kong as a vital location for future development. CdG later moved to On Lan Street in Central and transformed into a three-storey COMME des GARCONS ‘WHITE BOX’ in 2007.
 
COMME des GARCONS is further expanding its territory in Hong Kong between 2008 and 2009. A new stand-alone store confirmed for next year, the existing WHITE BOX is evolving into ‘WORK BOX’ on 19th July 2008. A concept by Rei Kawakubo, it is also a hint that there will be a series of changes taking place, bringing in constant surprises. The new WORK BOX will adopt a natural, raw spirit. Most parts of its interior and setting will remain the same.
 
Also part of the CdG family, ‘eYe JUNYA WATANABE MAN COMME des GARCONS’ will be opened on On Lan Street in Central on the same day. Based on ‘raw material’, the original door and external wall are kept as they are. This gives the shop a ‘camouflage’, hiding it from the rest of the street. White dominates the interior, contrasting with the raw concrete flooring. Cardboard shelf gives an intriguing layering feature, also extremely flexible display storage. The interior is installation-like overall.
