《HOMMAGE FOR SPACE》
Rooted in Setagaya-ku (Tokyo, Japan), Omega Point is a modest experimental music record store as well as an independent label.
As an avant-garde label, Omega Point keeps pushing the frontier of Japanese experimental music scene in full force. Having published various collections, the first being Archie Series which contains the work of significant first-generation Japanese electronic musicians such as Yuasa Joji, Kuniharu Akiyama, Toshi Ichiyanagi, Moroi Makoto and Abe Kobo. It has become an important archive material. The Sound Art Series contains ‘Lament for the Rise and Fall of the Elephantine Crocodile’ and ‘The Appointed Cloud’ by Kyoto / New York improvise musician Yoshi Wada.
The latest offering of experimental Japanese music is ‘Hommage for Space’ by Toshi Ichiyanagi, Akiko Samukawa and Tomomi Adachi. Toshi Ichiyanagi has made several appearances in the Archie Series. This ex-husband of Yoko Ono was in partnership with this two of his juniors for an improvising gig at Kanagawa-ken Hall in Oct 2007. The result was a performance of minimal piano with a sprinkle of electronic sound effect. ‘Hommage for Space’ is a 1,000 limited edition, a 3-inch bonus cd with the first 100.
