THE WOOD WORK BY NGAP
THINK SILLY STORE at Chai Wan has been under preparation for the past six months. SILLY THING cordially invited NGAP for all the specialised wood work. NGAP is extremely well respected in Japan and their previous work includes the UNDER COVER office. To build the European style hut inside the space was a new challenge to NGAP. Over hundred year old timber pieces with beautiful texture were specially sourced and delivered from America. The hut, bookshelf, long table and DJ desk are all wooden pieces.
CLASSIC MEETS TECHNOLOGY
Themed ‘CLASSIC meets TECHNOLOGY’, the quintessential of the space is lied in the combination of all the elements: authentic hut was fitted with electric glass door; oversized timber turned DJ desk; futuristic curvy lighting hung down from the ceiling; the brick wall a la old church. Natural light shimmers through the floor length glass windows, the shop is drenched with comfort and harmony. Foldable European theatre chair lined outside the hut, with oriental carpet and 1940s work desk make the space a mish-mesh of artistic objects.
THE BRANDS
Apart from the original products by SILLY THING, WACKO MARIA is also debuting in Hong Kong. Another addition is the collaboration items of JAM HOME MADE and SILLY THING.
SILLY THING
SILLY THING is escalating to another level this season. A more mature vibe overall, items such as shirt, polo shirt, T-shirt and tote bag are all made in Japan. Fine cutting and manufacturing demonstrate a more mature take on style. Tailored jacket and black tie are key parts of the new collection. SILLY THING is also starting its homeware collection ‘SILLY THING: HOME’, as part of the SILLY THING picture. Our debut item is set to be ceramic ashtray.
The SILLY THING shirt is a collaboration item with British artist Julie Verhoeven. Previously worked with Louis Vuitton, Lancome, Topshop and Mulberry to name but a few, the eccentric artist is also responsible for the album covers for celebrated bands such as Primal Scream and Kasabian. Julie’s artistic vision compliments the SILLY THING shirt perfectly.
THINK SILLY STORE OPENING BOXSET
For the special occasion of THINK SILLY STORE opening, SILLY THING is launching the Opening T-shirt. Printed with a graphic wooden hut and curvy SILLY THING font echoing the lighting in the store, the BOXSET also includes a set of 5 photos. Based on one of the THINK SILLY web magazine themes ‘HONG KONG NOW’, the films are to be placed in the SILLY THING device in order to see the images in 3-D.
JAM HOME MADE & ready made FOR SILLY THING
SILLY THING has been collaborating with JAM HOME MADE & ready made every season since 2006. Being the only oversea collaborator, the products have been extremely well received, be it necklace, pendent or wallets. The new collaboration products are available in time for the THINK SILLY STORE opening and its new season. The two items are ‘TV’ sunglasses and ‘PUMPS’ necklace. Debuting for the first time, these oversize shades are a special model by SILLY THING. Sighting a more dramatic proportion, the sunglasses embody the new aesthetic of TK and SILLY THING. The necklace made of skeletons and oversize pins is compatible with the sunglasses, allowing them to rest around the neck even if not worn. There is another model with a high heel pendant, showing fine craftsmanship and playful attitude. As usual, all JAM HOME MADE & ready made for SILLY THING items are complete with dazzling packaging and spare parts.
WACKO MARIA
Apart from original labels SILLY THING and CHAPEL OF DAWN, the highly anticipated label WACKO MARIA is now also available.
WACKO MARIA is founded by two former footballers, Japan National Team keeper Atsuhiko Mori and J-League team ‘Tokyo VERDY 1969′ striker Keiji Ishizuka. When Atsuhiko Mori retired, he set up a bar called ‘Rock Steady’ in Meguroku Aobadai which became the hottest spot for Japanese fashionistas. Rock Steady irregularly produced T-shirts and homeware, and collaborated with Yoshida & Co. and WTAPS. Stocked in B Jirushi Yoshida and Blackflag in Minami Aoyama, the demand started to rise. Atsuhiko Mori eventually teamed up with good friend Keiji Ishizuka to found WACKO MARIA, a label for fashion collections.
WACKO MARIA adopts the style of a gentleman. Key items are shirt, black tie and trousers. Themed ‘Tokyo Hat Rockers’, the collections aim to demonstrate the culture and music influence behind the gentleman look, as well as the philosophy ‘pursue a carefree life’. Top hat is a recurring item in WACKO MARIA collections, which comes in various colours and material every season. Made in Czech Republic, Virgin Mary and skeleton embroidery is the WACKO MARIA signature. They have recently collaborated with CONVERSE on All-Star sneakers this season.
Since established, WACKO MARIA is constantly gaining higher status in fashion industry. An old friend of WACKO MARIA, SILLY THING is also adopting a more mature style in 2008. Complimentary to the style of WACKO MARIA, SILLY THING is the first and only oversea stockist of WACKO MARIA.

Klein & More took an extreme measure and used a plane engine to test this ‘SENZ Umbrella’ by SENZ. In the video, the person is nearly pushed down by the sheer force of the wind while the umbrella remains perfectly intact.
