Bottega Veneta invited Tomas Maier to be their Creative Director in 2001. The Italian luxury house launched their menswear and womenswear in the same year; jewelry and homeware in 2004 and furniture in 2006. The labels which previous collaborated with Bottega Veneta are known for their traditional craftsmanship, for example Murano (glassware label from Italy) and L’artisan Parfumeur (perfumer from Paris). In 2008 Bottega Veneta is making their ceramic dinning-ware debut. Tomas Maier, a collector of fine ceramic and cutlery himself, brought in the manufacturer of the Royal Germans, Koenigiche Porzellan-Manufaktur (KPM), to collaborate on ‘Intreccio Svanito’ collection. Entirely handmade and in a set of nine, the Intreccio of Bottega Veneta appears as the slightly faded pattern (Intreccio Svanito) in the centre or on the edge of the piece. The logos of Royal blue sword, Bottega Veneta and KPM are stamped in the bottom of the pieces. The code of the craftsman is also hand-painted.
