Following ‘Trembled Blossom’ (the celebrated animation for the S/S2008 collection), Prada is inviting acclaimed visual designer James Lima to try his hands again on its A/W2008 collection. Using computer motion capture and cyber-scanning techniques, Lima’s creation, namely ‘Fallen Shadows’ is about the adventure of a female shadow after departing her owner. The lead female role wears key items from the collection, including of course, the high-waist over-knee pencil skirt. The pattern of the lace is like shadow, interweaving throughout different settings. With a story line loosely resembling Louis Buñuel’s work and a Dali-esque backdrop, the film is accentuated with a strong note of surrealism. Lima’s concept on film is not unlike Prada’s on fashion. He claimed, ‘the Shadow is more alive and expressive than the woman, she is the sub-conscience, the dream, the soul, and it is the journey of self-discovery with the sensations of the city that confronts her… and us’. May the inner journey begin. ‘Fallen Shadows’ is now live on Prada official website.
