Stepping in the Bulthaup showroom, I was strike by the harmonious atmosphere, as oppose to the machine-like kitchen set up one would expect.

THE ART OF SIMPLE LIVING
Kitchen is an area that often seems to be isolated from the rest of the house, no matter how much effort has gone into it. The reason is simple ─ that kitchen is perceived to be a functional space, shut away from the rest of the house apart from the duration of cooking actions. It is an ‘out of sight, out of mind’ area.
Bulthaup, nevertheless, is the opposite. Minimal, modern design combines the kitchen with the rest of the space and unifies the set up of the house as a whole. It becomes a space with no clear aesthetic distinction.
Bulthaup has been establishing‘Architecture of the Kitchen’, its own concept on kitchen design since 1970, suggesting that the kitchen should be unified with the aesthetic of the rest of the house. The kitchen does not exist solely for cooking but living as well. Simple, relaxing and comforting, Bulthaup’s kitchen design is also functional.
Minimal and special, the ‘Bulthaup b3’ series is composed of multi-function wall that is used to suspend components. Although the walls are thinner than usual, they are highly substantial in supporting its structure. Dividing boards, cupboard components and other heavy duty pieces such as microwave, or even long chair for two to three people can be ‘suspended’ in the air with the support. That creates room for the space near the ground and makes a much more spacious kitchen area. The whole set up is tidy and minimal, being rid of unnecessary parts.
Bulthaup is directionally minimal and multi-functional, making it the perfect companion to any style of furniture and interior. Each component is optional, therefore one can tailor-made one’s own kitchen according to your habit and preference. Incorporating streamlined architecture, precise design proportion and delicate craftsmanship, each item is sculpted carefully by extremely experienced craftsman. Its nearly-perfect visual, function and texture make Bulthaup the first choice of many interior designers worldwide.
Ever since the ‘Bulthaup 20’ series (1997), Bulthaup has been promoting the concept of ‘mobile kitchen’. With aluminum, stainless steel and glass as its main material, all kitchen unit can be moved or expanded. Some even comes with its own wheels or legs, to allow a make-over whenever one feels like. These units can be easily moved to a new location, making it more eco-friendly and economical. Even if one is to place the units in unexpected places such as one’s studio, bathroom and garden, it is perfectly possible to build up a space to reflect one’s taste with Balthaup.
A series of minimal furniture, such as tables and chairs, is also available at Balthaup. The most stand-out piece is the neutral-looking ‘Bulthaup c2’ table. Its size and aesthetic is perfect with Bulthaup b3 series, making it perfect for the kitchen; its advance technique enables the edges to be matched perfectly, the legs increase the space below the table making sitting comfortable and allow convenient storage. These are just some of the powerful evidence to proof that Bulthaup pays serious attention to develop its aesthetic, details and functionality.
