It is not necessary for me to re-emphasise how humourous or irresistible Jaime Hayón’s work is, how he cleverly combines street culture with his designs, nor how he blurs the line between art and design. Much about the designer has already been written in the THINK SILLY ‘People’ section. Design Link and Lane Crawford has co-hosted a solo exhibition for Jaime Hayón, showing his important designs in recent years, an event not to be missed by any self-claimed design-lovers. One of the highlights is ‘The Fantasy’ designed for Lladro, a series of ceramic figures. They are clown-like fugitives in pastel costumes escaped from an otherworldly fantasy. I should mention that one of the characters, ‘The Lover’, whose outfit is completed the blue shoes Hayón designed for Camper. Hayón’s significant designs for Metalarte, Artquitect and BD are also included in this exhibition.
All exhibits in the Jaime Hayón exhibition are for sale in Lane Crawford (Central and Causeway Bay, Hong Kong) and Design Link (Central, Hong Kong).
