JULIETTE HAS A GUN
THE ROCK MEETS THE ROMANTICS
Juliette, Shakespear’s heroine who holds a gun with roses as bullets in the 21ST Century, has become the inspiration for a postmodern brainchild. Romano Ricci (the grandchild of Nina Ricci who apprenticed in the perfumery world for four years) and Francis Kurkdjian (perfumer for Dior, Lanvin, Acqua di Parma and Davidoff) have collaborated on a perfume series named ‘Juliette Has a Gun’.
Three of the five perfumes in this series are already available, with rose as their base. Various palette and names reflect the multi-faceted femininity: the white ‘Miss Charming’ made with berries and Moroccan roses; the black ‘Lady Vengeance’ is a dark vampy version with Bulgarian roses; ‘Citizen Queen’ is gothic and reminds one of ‘Citizen Kane’ by Orson Welles (film is another source for their inspiration, on top of literature) Miss Charming and Lady Vengeance were given birth in 2006 and now available in Lane Crawford Hong Kong. Citizen Queen will also be available on Valentine’s Day 2009.
