Eco has been the hot topic in the furniture industry recently. Apart from environmental friendly and sustainable material, many designers are devoted to develop and promote recycled material. Felt, originally made by pressed plastic bottles, is the choice of material for Komplot. The latest creative output of the Denmark design duo Boris Berlin and Poul Christiansen is the ‘Nobody’ chair for furniture label Hay.
Only one step is required to produce Nobody chair — putting the material into the mould then apply high pressure and heat. The molded chair is in one complete piece. Although it is in plastic essentially, the chair looks and feels as cosy as flannel. Nobody chair was short-listed by the Craft and Design Biennial 2007 Prize and the judges considered it as playful, curious and experimental as the other Komplot designs. For the utterly likeable child-like qualities, it seems only natural that Hay has just launched a mini Nobody chair for children.
