The word ‘caviar’ is derived from the Turkish word ‘Khavyar’ or Persian word ‘Chav-jar’, meaning ‘cake of power’. This very type of roe laid by female sturgeon is especially nutritious, and therefore recognized as a valuable delicacy. Migrating from Russia to France in the early Twenties, Arcady Fixon started importing fresh caviar and established ‘Caviar Kaspia’ in Paris in 1927. This French restaurant is frequent by famous writers, artists, fashion designers and celebrities alike, such as Tom Ford, the Beckhams and Gwyneth Paltrow.
Recently launched in Hong Kong, Caviar Kaspia opened a 2,000 square feet restaurant in the Landmark Central. The space is designed by Jean Grisoni, whose previous clients include none other than Cartier, Dior and the Louvre Museum. A wide range of caviar, such as Sevruga, Oscietre and the precious Beluga are served at the restaurant. The well considered menu also includes a variety of smoke fish, foie gras and Spanish black cured ham as well as Kaspia fine wine.
