Nike Dunk seems to slip ever so slightly out of any one specific definition.
Nike Dunk was born in 1985, designed specifically for basketball players. In the duration, its many mutations came to life — basketball shoes, skate shoes, tailor-made shoes for BMX… the eventful development is extremely rare in the history of sneakers. Gradually Nike Dunk surpassed its origin as vintage sneakers, to become a record of history, or some might even refer it as a piece of art.
Certain collaboration strike the cords straight way, The Nike ‘Liberty Dunk’ being one of them. Located in London, Liberty is founded by Arthur Liberty in 1875. It is also a fabric manufacturer, known for its mellow palette, floral prints and delicate finishing. The Nike designer was so impressed with its floral prints on a visit in summer 2006, that he engaged Liberty in lengthy discussion. The result is Nike Liberty Dunk made in ‘Whilshire’ and ‘Pepper’ fabrics. They were available in April 2008. The combination of the two makes an artistic vision.
‘Nina’, ‘Venus Leaf’ and ‘Strawberry Thief’ fabric are the choice of Nike design team to create a tender spring time vision.
