ACRONYM®
THE COMBINATION OF TECHNOLOGY & STYLE
ACRONYM® is founded by Michaela Sachenbacher and Errolson Hugh in 1994. With ‘combining technology and style’ in mind, ACRONYM® worked with numerous collaborators on functional clothing previously namely Burton, KHS (manufacturer for German Special Forces equipment) and W.L. Gored and Associates (creator of Gore-Tex). Acronym Kit-1 is the official debut offering of ACRONYM® in 2002. Analog MD Clone Jacket, launched in the same year, was chosen by ‘Time’ as ‘coolest inventions of 2002’.
Seven consecutive years later, the label’s 2009 collection has developed into a more grown up style. Composed of clothing and bags, the clothing collection is divided into ‘Hardshell’, ‘Lightshell’, ‘Softshell’ and ‘Next to Skin’. Bags fall into the ‘3rd Arm’ category. Its messenger bag and back pack are collaborations with Bagjack®. ‘KHS Tec Sys’ enables small pouches to be buckled on messenger bag and back pack, adding volume when necessary.
The highlight of the latest collection is the solar-powered ‘Solar Charger 3A-MSOL1’. A panel, placed outside Messenger Bag, saves solar energy into the ‘accumulator’ and transmits energy via USB to charge iPod, mobile phone or other portable gadgets.
ACRONYM® is now available in Hong Kong THINK SILLY STORE (the only stockist apart from Munich, Berlin, Tokyo and Czech Republic).
