‘The Miu Miu Woman is continually redefined, with each chapter becoming yet another facet of a crystalline, complicated feminine ideal.’ Woman is a complex being for Miuccia Prada — ever-evolving, multi-faceted and indefinable. The Miu Miu woman is always captured in the artistic light, like Maggie Gyllenhaal by Terry Richardson; Zhou Xun by Inez Van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin; or Kirsten Dunst and Lindsay Lohan by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.
The 2009 SS Miu Miu catwalk took place yet again in Avenue Foch, a 18th Century building filled with crystal chandeliers. Sitting next to a massive mirror is ‘Elegant Graffiti’ by Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli, Lindsay Morse and Mei Xun Lue. These members of AMO (famous architectural practice set up by celebrated architect Rem Koolhaas) reinterpret the archive portraits in Miu Miu campaigns, turning the space into a ‘Modern Portrait Gallery’. With the prestigious Pritzker Architecture Prize under his belt, Koolhaas has been a long time collaborator of Prada and Miu Miu. From retail space to catwalk, he constantly brings a unique sense of modernity into the mix.
From Paris to Hong Kong, ‘The Modern Portrait Gallery Project’ is now on exhibition in the Peking Road Miu Miu store.
