Masamichi Katayama is much celebrated in the Japanese design scene, started working in Busy Work Shop® over ten years ago. His clean, minimum style is a pioneer in the early design scene, and became the standard of shop interior now. Katayama founded interior design company ‘Wonderwall Inc.’ in 2000, counting Marc Jacobs, Beams T, See by Chloé, Dress Camp, Loopwheerler, Hyseric Galmour, A.P.C., BBC/THE ICE CREAM STORE™ as his clients. Recently expanding his design territory to Hong Kong and Russia, Katayama is building a solid international reputation.
Katayama’s Wonderwall Inc. also participates in various selected product and furniture design projects. ‘CΪBONE Collection’, designed for Kita-Aoyama lifestyle store CΪBONE, sees Katayama applying his signature minimalistic aesthetic to furniture design. Emphasise on the concept of ‘Non-Design Design’, function is of priority. With ‘keeping object’s original form’ in mind, Sidetable and Centertable series show structures that interpret simple steel curves. Made in wood, glass and marble, all sizes are adjustable. The sofa series is durable and practical, its metallic frame and real leather seat is suitable for both domestic and work space.
