Travelling has increasingly become an indispensible part of modern lives. It is as if by human innate needs that we place ourselves in strange places from time to time, do something otherwise unthinkable, meet someone possibly for once in a life time. Impressions fade, but certain occurrence echoes those encounters and gently tugs on our sleeves. It could be a certain scent in the deep autumn air, the grassy smell when the day breaks, or even the simple taste of a cup of tea.
As part of the 2009 theme ‘Beautiful Escape’, Hermès is holding ‘Travels in Tea’ event in Galleria Hermès store in Central (Hong Kong), inviting guests for sharing tea from all over the world and be inspired by talks by expert travelers. A moment of contemplation is true luxury in hectic modern lives – Central being the center of it for many in Hong Kong.
Our imagination for Vietnam, Urumqi and Mauritius certainly varies – Hermès had three separate set-ups representing these three regions and their tea culture. The subtly scented light lotus tea is a specialty from Vietnam, the robust tea with goat milk tea represents the passionate hospitality of the Urumqi people; the mint tea with distinct sweetness is the ideal present for guests visiting Mauritis islands.
