ISLAND TANG HONG KONG
SLIGHTLY NOSTALGIC

Hong Kong flavour evokes an eclectic lifestyle — tasting great dim sum in Chinese restaurant, accompanied with a drink selection that ranges from champagne to authentic old-school style Hong Kong milk tea or ‘Yin Yang’; dining traditional Chinese gastronomy in an art deco interior.

David Tang, the founder of Shanghai Tang, materialises just that. In addition to the member’s club ‘China Club’ and celebrity diner ‘China Tang’ (Kate Moss, George Clooney are some of the frequents), ‘Island Tang’ is the much simpler, straight forward fine dining establishment. To Tang, it is all about flexibility and comfort. Dim sum is served throughout the day from lunch hour. The names are equally unadorned— signature dishes classic Peking duck and barbecued pork are trusty basics. Thanks to former Ritz Carlton Chinese restaurant staffs and Peninsula chefs, Island Tang offers sincere service and delightful dishes. Chandelier from Italy, special wine freezer for over hundred bottle storage, the interior of Island Tang is filled with subtle statement details — right down to the 500 pounds olive oil set on each table. The understated yet refined diner is a gem in the corner of Central.

With traditional dishes firmly intact, Island Tang is also opened to new ideas. Island Tang is co-hosting ‘Chinese — Italian Wine Dinner’ with Italian Chamber of Commerce in Hong Kong & Macao on 29th June, putting Chinese cuisine and Italian fine wine side by side. Only HKD600 for eight courses and seven fine wine, the event makes one tasty east-meet-west affair.
