What is hidden can be more naked. The band of darkness, latest work of Natalia Brilli, is composed of several leather-wrapped skeleton members. Ironic may be, that the music instruments are completely leather-sealed.
Leather-wrapped oversized pearl sautoir necklaces, watch, badge, skateboard, and even keyboard…Belgian-born Natalia started her career in Paris, which is rocketing over past few years. Taking inspiration from 17th Century vanity painting, Victorian aesthetic and horror films by Dario Argento, covering up elegant accessories is Natalie’s sinister speciality. Black, green and purple being her signature colours, the designer is adding pastel and metal series just to mix things up. Graduated from La Cambre (same school as Olivier Theyskens) and very active in the theatre and costume design scene, Natalia also designs accessories for Rochas. She then launched her own brand in 2004 which consequently stocks in Maria Luisa, Browns and Barneys alike. Her collection is represented over thirty countries around the world.
The ‘rock band’ installation by Natalie was shown at Art Basel, Dusseldorf and Copenhagen Fashion Week. It was also spotted in On Pedder, Central (Hong Kong) alongside her ‘leather bound’ accessories.
