‘Babel’ actress Rinko Kikuchi with the intricate look in her eyes, Robert Pattinson as ‘The Pin-Up of A New Generation’, Barack Obama beaming confidence… Matt Jones, the junior of ‘i-D’ founder Terry Jones did not set out to be a photographer. However, it was a happy accident that the graphic graduate burst into the photography scene with the image of a naked, aggressive-looking Damien Hirst. Now specialized in shooting the famous, the then twenty-year-old has nine ‘i-D’ covers under his belt already, as well as numerous commissions in ‘Life’, ‘Esquire’, ‘Elle’ and ‘The New York Times Magazine’ to name but a few.
A ping-pong lover, a self-claimed ‘excellent uncle’, Jones is not shy from his desire to return to the countryside. He also stated that ‘marrying the most marvelous woman in the world’ is his best idea ever. Invited by Sarah at colette, Jones is holding an exhibition showing his work over past fourteen years, including personal, fashion and celebrity work. For those who would like to get your hands on a print or two, it might be just the occasion for you (Enquiry: galerie@colette.fr).
