Taking inspirations from far and near, we often integrate elements from different territories into our living space. Objects, as humble as they might seem, allow us to re-visit certain precious moments of past time.
South African Ronel Jordaan has been designing knit items for thirty years. She started designing in 2004, with nothing but his hands as his tool-kit throughout the whole process. Hand-knitted, hand-dyed, the oversize free-forming cushions are seamless on the surface. The gentle palette in earth tone with rock-like texture mimics the nature, its softness and warmth come as a surprise.
With micro 4/3 cameras resurrecting vintage lenses recently, vintage movie lamp is also gaining its share of attention. Be it wooden stand with three legs, or one with steel pipe and small wheels, it serves as a fine reminder of the 1920s silent film era (and how the simplest machine recorded human civilization).
