RETROSPECTIVE OF A FUTURIST

Miuccia Prada, the fashion designer on the forefront of the industry, constantly challenges us with her whimsical takes on high fashion. She is known to be a futurist in her artistic vision, also in the sense that she notoriously avoids taking inspiration from the past. That is exactly why ‘The Prada Book’ comes as a surprise perhaps — that Miuccia Prada is taking us down to her memory lane.

‘All these qualities work together to compose Prada’s engagement in the world of ideas and innovation, as it has always considered fashion, luxury, and style as an overarching project beyond the continuous production of clothes, shoes, and bags.’ From advertising campaigns shot by Norbert Schoerner in the 1990s to the Steven Meisel of the latest (and Heidi Slimane for mens collection); from flagship store architecture to the Transformer oversize installation, Miuccia Prada is the creative master mind behind the most exuberating collaboration projects of today. The postmodern projects are mish-mash of the greatest contemporary talents across fashion, design, architecture and other territories.

Launched in the Prada Beverly Hills store, The Prada Book event was attended by the like of Chloë Sevigny, French Vogue’s Carine Roitfeld and Mario Testino. Even if you have missed the party, the 708-page Prada Book (edited by Miuccia Prada and husband Patrizio Bertelli) can be viewed in the comfort of your own privacy for 100 Euro.
