HOT SUMMER DAYS’ BY WING SHYA
AN EXTENSION OF HOT SUMMER DAYS
A moving image is composed of twenty four images in each second, compressing many stories into one. Behind the scene photography is now receiving more and more attention, even seen as art work by some. Many would consider Wong Kar-Wai instrumental for this progression. ‘Hot Summer Days’, co-directed by Wing Shya and Tony Chan, is the first Chinese film financed by Fox US. A photographer himself, it is hardly surprising that Wing Shya took the opportunity to create photography for his own film debut.
A collaboration with Diesel, ‘Hot Summer Days’ is a photography book for Wing Shya’s attempt in film. Including many behind-the-scene images, the book showcases the characters and locations as seen in the film. The raw aesthetic is what one would expect from Wing Shya.
The book comes in covers in various palette — green, yellow, blue and pink. All limited editions now available at Diesel (Central, Hong Kong)
