A LEAN NIGHT
JULY PROGRAMME ─ GLORIOUS GANGSTER
Night time conjures up all kinds of uncertainties — seductive and exciting, it is a space for imagination. In real life and cinema, many scenes in classic films are the most mesmerizing. ‘A Lean Night’, a selection of classic films curated by Hong Kong Arts Centre, is bringing ‘Glorious Gangster’ to its audience in July 2010. Previously curated films themed ‘Women of the Night’ and ‘The Human Condition’, the forthcoming series of six European and Japanese classic films (directed by the likes of Fassbinder, Godard and Pasolini) in ‘Glorious Gangster’ are shown with an emphasis on masculinity and ‘brotherhood’, accompanied with talk after film sessions. The season of ‘A Lean Night’ series continues until December, with Kieslowśki’s ‘The Decalogue’ as its closing film.
