Amid the all-round 21st century high technology, a hand written letter still beats an email any day ─ especially one that sends out scents of fragrant tea. Postcard Teas from London combines tea-leaf and postcard, conveying a warmth that exceeds two- dimensional words.
Timothy d’Offay, son of renowned English art dealer Anthony d’Offay, is a tea expert and previously stepped on the land of India, Sri Lanka, Korea, Taiwan, China and Japan. The past decade sees Timothy seeking collaboration with boutique tea suppliers, the result is now evidential at Selfridges, Liberty, Harrods among others. Inspired by his travel, Timothy named the business Postcard Teas and its key product Tea Postcard. Founded in 2005, its HQ is situated in an 18th century building on Dering Street, in the space that once was senior d’Offay’s gallery. Tea-leaf was first made available in that very spot two hundred years ago. Tasting takes place in-store regularly, a special postbox is also placed in-store to provide handy Royal Mail service for customers. What’s more, the service is now made available online.
Postcard Teas does not limit itself to tea-leaf territory. Apart from Tea Mail, other alternative products include Tea Chocolate and Tea Candle. The company also holds tea-themed exhibition and Tea School, for those tea fanatics out there.
