I was attracted to Rollei camera for the compact shape of the 35 series; she is the first limited edition in 135 format, surviving all these years and still occupies a special place in many camera lovers’ heart. Rollei has been reinventing itself, laying down industry milestones one after the other. Its high quality has become the jargon for professional camera in the 1990s. For a very long time, Rollei official stockist and provider for after sale service are absent in Hong Kong. Under DHW Fototechnik, Rollei recently inherited Franke & Heidecke factory in Braunschweig, gathering professional engineers, fine craftsmanship and cutting edge techniques. Livecoal Ltd is now appointed to oversee distribution in Hong Kong, China and Singapore, and is responsible for implementing the three-year warranty scheme.

One of the highlights is the A-La-Carte service, customising camera palette and parts according to the customer’s preference – gold, silver, Swarovski crystal, or even your own name! Each Rollei 35 are paired with Carl Zeiss Sonnar 40mm f/2.8 lens, created by fine German craftsman. Rollei showroom was unveiled last month, displaying a complete set of Rollei professional cameras including HY6, 6008AF, Rolleiflex TLR (Twin Lens Reflex) and Rollei 35. A mini studio is also set up for test shoots. The other part of the showroom is a gallery – regular exhibition and event will take place for the likeminded.
