LANE CRAWFORD × PARTNERS & SPADE
A CONCEPT STORE FROM NEW YORK
Lane Crawford, being one of the sponsors of HK Art 11, has been actively supporting creative practitioners. Partners & Spade, a multi-media creative team from New York, has opened a pop up store in Lane Crawford at IFC. Co-founded in 2008 by Andy Spade and Anthony Sperduti, the company has been involved in various projects including film production, fashion and product design, publishing, advertising and marketing. Its store on Great Jones Street (Manhattan, U.S.) stocks a fine selection (homeware, ceramics, drawing, textile, model and stationey) sourced all over the world, and is only opened in weekend. The set up is evolved constantly and tailored for both creativity and commerce.
Items selected by Andy and Anthony are now available at the Hong Kong pop up store. The most eye catching being self sustaining costum terrarium by Lindsey Taylor – no need for watering, a carbon dioxide unit set in the bottom supplies water and keep the plant moist. There are also neon bikes designed by Brit artist Benedict Radcliffe, vintage globes bought from George Glazer Gallery (New York), hand painted ceramics by U.S. artist John Derian, stand alone loud speakers circa 1940 and 1960, as well as salt and pepper set designed by Partners & Spade. The pop up store is set up with the New York HQ in mind, with umbrellas and bikes hanging from the ceiling, making it a rather quirky sight.
