Not unlike what one would expect from Undercover, ‘Mirror’ collection captures the mood of a dark fantasy. Previous designs have resurfaced as a collective representation of Takahashi’s creativity. In the menswear collection, coat collar sewn with distressed detailing is derieved from Autumn/Winter 2005 ‘Arts and Crafts’ collection; in the womenswear collection, stripy tops shown in natural and distorted forms are taken from Spring/Summer 2004 ‘Languid’ collection. Red boots made for menswear collection in the 90’s are resurrected as women’s. All the familiar elements are put together and taken apart again in this collection.
Jun Takahashi fuses everyday aesthetic with glamour (signature of his early days), as the core of this season. Rabbit fur removable trimming is added on women’s biker jacket, perfect for everyday or special occasions. Trousers, a key item in menswear collection since several seasons ago, are added with wool. Adding leather and Gore-Tex with tailoring is also a surprising take. Carrying the popular kitten and food print clutch bag from last season forward, they are made in leather this season. The kitten print is adorned with grey fur, a quirky spin on chic aesthetic. Both menswear and womenswear collections are now available in Undercover Hong Kong store.
