While the NBA Lockdown situation is still in question, 2K Sports’ NBA 2K12 has already dropped to please the fans. Continuing with the popular “Jordan Challenge” mode, the new incarnation will include even more players from the long standing history of the NBA. Choosing teams from the 70s will turn your TV screen into Black and White mode, the 3-point lines will be gone, score cards and commentary will also stay true to the period you’ve chosen.
Apart from legendary players such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird and Kreem Abdul-Jabbar, reaching certain goals in the game will unlock a further 30 classic teams from the 90’s. The list includes the “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons lineup, the Patrick Ewing led New York Knicks, Penny Hardaway and Shaq O’Neal’s Orlando Magic, the Chicago Bulls team who hold the best overall win-loss season record with 72-10 in the 1995-96 season, Clyde Drexler’s Portland Trail Blazers and Gary Payton and Shawn Kemp’s 1996 NBA Finals’ Seattle SuperSonics team. Just by watching the series of teaser videos that have been released will have NBA fans pounding for more.
With the new improved control system, a wider range of movements will be available to the player and therefore will increase the gameplay’s difficulty. New signature dunks, movements and celebrations also enhance the whole playing experience. Compare to last year’s “My Player” mode, 2K12 has provided more in-depth customization options in appearances, sneakers, accessories, tattoos and even signature techniques.
